A trip that takes one back the olden days

More than thirty years ago, I spent extended periods with trappers in the Yukon Territory near Lake Dezadeash. From there I travelled by boat, truck and on foot to the St. Elias Mountains. In this huge, and not entirely safe grizzly-bear country, I visited eighty-year-old Charly and brought him food supplies in his remote valley. In 2006, I had a reunion with former trappers and we reminisced about old times with photos and stories.

This unique experience is one I can truly recommend to anyone who associates trappers and gold diggers with the adventures that they longed for in their youth. Come with me and discover the visible traces of the last rough and tough characters of an exciting bygone age.
